The new Off Broadway tuner, with songs by alt-country singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, does not open until June 14, but the production has already set an extension. Show now runs through July 15.
"10 Million Miles" is being closely watched as the Atlantic Theater Company's tuner follow-up to "Spring Awakening," the musical that originated a year ago at the theater and went on to a Broadway production that recently earned 11 Tony noms. Helmer Michael Mayer and attached commercial producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman, all "Spring" team members, reunite for "Miles."
Book of the new show, about a road trip from Florida to New York, is by Keith Bunin ("The Busy World is Hushed"). Cast includes Matthew Morrison ("Hairspray," "The Light in the Piazza") and Mare Winningham.
Production began previews May 11.
