BBC America picks up two new series

Channel acquires 'Babylon,' 'Torchwood'

BBC America has acquired two new series, "Hotel Babylon" and "Torchwood," as well as second seasons of dramas "Life on Mars" and "Vincent."

Inspired by Imogen Edwards-Jones' book, "Hotel Babylon" is a drama about the staff of a five-star hotel. Skein preems in August.

"Torchwood" and "Vincent" will debut in September. Created by Russell T. Davies, "Torchwood" is a sci-fi series about a team of investigators who use alien technology to solve crime; crime drama "Vincent" stars Ray Winstone as a private investigator.

A premiere date has not been determined for "Life on Mars," a drama about a modern-day cop transported back to the '70s to solve a crime.
