Vue set to broadcast Genesis

Show to air on June 27

LONDON -- U.K. exhibition chain Vue Entertainment will broadcast rock act Genesis' June 27 sellout gig in Dusseldorf, Germany, live to 40 of its 59 multiplexes across the U.K. and Ireland.

Vue's ambitious cinema simulcast experiment reps the latest step by the U.K. exhibition sector to diversify the entertainment offering at cinemas. Music, sport and other live events are increasingly on offer at U.K. cinemas operated by the big chains.

"It's a statement of Vue's intent to deliver an increasing variety of programming that will reinforce our position as an entertainment destination of choice for people across the U.K.," said Mark de Quervain, sales and marketing director for Vue Entertainment.

We hope to continue this programming in future to achieve regular music screening events, both live and pre-recorded to the public by working with talented groups and bands, music companies and promoters to Vue's screens nationwide."

The Genesis gig follows Vue's previous public and private screenings of music from Queen, Green Day, Pink Floyd, Morrissey and Live 8.
