The e1.5 million ($2.02 million) pic will lense in HD in Istanbul this fall, with Ceylan's usual producer Zeynep Ozbatur producing via her new shingle, Yuzler Sesler.
Ozbatur said the pic is a part detective story involving four characters, a woman and three men, and takes place in little known areas of Istanbul. It is being cast right now.
Script was penned by Ceylan, his wife Ebru, and Ercan Kesal.
The helmer and his wife played a couple on the brink of separation in "Climates."
Movie features in the Coen brothers' segment of the Cannes Film Festival's 60th anniversary film "To Each His Own Cinema," which screened Sunday.
In the Coens' short film, a Stetson-wearing man walks into a cinema where the choice is between "Climates" and Renoir's "La Regle du jeu."
After a comical exchange with the cinephile box office clerk, whom he tries to pick up, he goes to see "Climates" and comes out afterward saying how much he'd enjoyed it.
Ceylan won Cannes' Grand Prix in 2003 with "Uzak" (Distant).
