Fortissimo picks up 'Farm'

Oskarsdottir directed pic

CANNES -- Hong Kong and Amsterdam-based international sales house Fortissimo Films has picked up world rights outside Scandinavia to Icelandic comedy "Country Farm."

Pic, which is lensing, revolves around two busloads of guests at an out-of-town wedding ceremony. It is directed by Valdis Oskarsdottir, editor of "Festen," the Danish hit that was also set at a family reunion. It stars many members of the Vesturport theatrical troupe.

Cinematography is by Anthony Dodd Mantle ("The Last King of Scotland," "28 Days Later").

"Farm" is produced by a trio of local production houses Mystery Island, Duo Prods. and Ave Prods. with the deal brought to Fortissimo through New York-based co-producer Jim Stark.
