Blind Spot pilots 'Iron Sky'

Vuorensola directs black comedy

CANNES — Finnish director Timo Vuorensola is to direct a dark comedy about Nazis on the dark side of the moon.

While the pitch may sound improbable, project is being hatched by Blind Spot Pictures, which last year put together the equally unlikely "Jade Warrior," a Finnish-Chinese martial arts fantasy actioner.

Blind Spot will co-produce with Energia Productions ("Star Wreck").

Movie will be lensed in English and filmmakers will Thursday unveil a concept trailer available online.

"Finns may seem like gruff and humorless folk, but many outsiders miss the vast treasury of sarcastic and morbid humor that is the cornerstone of our culture," Vuorensola said. "Humor of 'Iron Sky' is based on these elements, with a hefty seasoning of the absurdity of Monty Python."
