Macy will pen the script with longtime writing partner Steven Schachter, who is aboard to direct.
Project will examine the complicated life of a man who organizes charity drives by day and cracks the safes of major corporations by night. Story is told with the use of flash forwards, with Macy's character seen in prison in the future.
Macy, Schachter, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will exec produce the Sony Pictures Television show.
Macy has collaborated with TNT in the past on movies such as "Door to Door" and "The Wool Cap," both of which Schachter directed and which he co-wrote with Macy.
Macy has also been on the small screen in Showtime limited-run series "Out of Order" and Aaron Sorkin's ABC skein "Sports Night."
Net known for its "We Know Drama" tagline has had blockbuster success with "The Closer," the Kyra Sedgwick legal drama that has helped catapult the net to the top of the cable-ratings heap. But it has been looking to develop more series to match that show's success, recently signing on for a Steven Bochco legal drama pilot.
And it will soon bow "Heartland," a medical drama starring Treat Williams, as well as Holly Hunter vehicle "Saving Grace," about a detective given a chance at redemption.
