Epic ups Granite to general manager

Record label promotes exec to new post

Epic Records has upped finance and operations senior veep Adam Granite to general manager.

Epic prexy Charlie Walk said that among Granite's responsibilities will be seeking partnerships for Epic artists. The Sony BMG label, which counts Audioslave, Shakira and Modest Mouse among its artists, had not previously had a G.M.

Granite has been with the company for more than a decade, beginning as an administrative assistant in 1996.

Record labels are trying feverishly to find ways of promoting artists on, and collecting revenue from, new media platforms.

Epic has a number of innovative initiatives in place, including a partnership with MTV and Dr. Pepper to promote the band Cartel; effort involves a live promotional stunt in Gotham, online video streaming and a reality series on MTV.
