Celebrity 'Brother' scores for Telefe

Network leading ratings after series renewal

BUENOS AIRES -- A celebrity version of "Big Brother" premiered Sunday with solid audience numbers for Telefe in Argentina.

"Gran Hermano Famosos" fetched an average 35.2 rating points between 9:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., 10 points better than the debut of the hit fourth season of the reality skein in January.

Among the 14 contestants in the two-month version are former boxing champ Jorge "Locomotora," comedian-host Jose Maria "Pachu" Pena, model Dolores Moreno, Brazilian glamour girl Jacqueline Dutra and Nino Dolce, an Italian chef known for his aphrodisiac creations.

The performance outpaced the 13 points of "Futbol de Primera," a venerable round-up program of the week's first-division soccer matches on Artear-Canal 13.

Telefe has been leading the ratings this year thanks in part to "Big Brother," which it brought back after a four-year hiatus on the bet it would find a new audience.
