NBC is large on "Medium," giving the show an early greenlight to return next year for its fourth season.

The "Medium" pickup was announced Monday morning by NBC Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly, who gave props to the show's "unique storytelling."

"'Medium' is a quality show with an outstanding star that has always delivered a very loyal audience," Reilly said.

Reilly also singled out creator Glenn Gordon Caron for his "superb creative vision." "Medium" has averaged a 3.0 rating and 8 share with adults 18-49 this season, and attracts 8.5 million viewers.

Show stars Patricia Arquette as a woman who uses her visions of dead people to help solve crimes as a consultant to the district attorney's office. Arquette's character is based on real-life medium Allison DuBois.

Caron exec produces and also directs "Medium." Other exec producers include Kelsey Grammer, Steve Stark, Rene Echevarria and Ronald L. Schwary. Skein is produced by Grammnet Prods. and Picturemarker Prods. for CBS Paramount Network TV.
