Albrecht was taken into custody at around 3 a.m. after becoming "engaged in a physical altercation" with his girlfriend, according to Officer Bill Cassell of the Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. The exec, in town for the Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight telecast by HBO's pay-per-view unit, was charged with misdemeanor battery and domestic assault.
Metro police officers had to break up the fight between Albrecht and his g.f., Cassell told Bloomberg News.
A rep at the Clark County detention center told Daily Variety that Albrecht was released from custody at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday. It wasn't immediately clear when or if Albrecht will appear before a judge in the matter.
Albrecht's arrest couldn't come at a less opportune time. A huge chunk of the cable industry has descended upon Las Vegas for the annual NCTA cable show.
According to the NCTA's Web site, Albrecht is not scheduled to speak on any panels at the confab. His boss -- and predecessor as HBO topper -- Jeff Bewkes is set to appear Wednesday at a panel focused on the future of the cable biz.
An HBO rep did not respond to an e-mail request for comment late Sunday afternoon.
