'Kiki & Herb' take show on the road

"Kiki & Herb: Alive From Broadway," which played the Rialto over the summer (with the subtitle "Alive on Broadway") and will be up for this year's Tony for special theatrical event, plays a national tour of about 10 cities beginning this summer at Boston's Huntington Theater and San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater.
Also confirmed is a run at the D.C. area's Arena Stage in spring 2008, while talks are under way for stints in Chicago, Philly, Santa Fe and Seattle, as well as Sydney and the West End.
Downtown cabaret act Kiki & Herb never pulled in huge biz over the four weeks of their first Broadway outing, but they did earn glowing notices from critics. Show follows a song set performed by drunken 70-year-old chanteuse Kiki (played by Justin Bond), backed back her long-suffering accompanist Herb (Kenny Mellman).
Duo has cultivated a fan base in Gotham and beyond through earlier shows, including "Kiki & Herb: There's a Stranger in the Manger" and "Kiki & Herb Will Die for You."
