Burns joins Katherine Heigl, James Marsden and Malin Akerman in the comedy to be directed by Anne Fletcher. Shooting begins this summer.
Heigl plays a perennial bridesmaid who, after planning many weddings for friends, is drafted by her sister, who's marrying the man with whom the bridesmaid is in love. Burns plays the groom.
Burns just completed "One Missed Call," the Warner Bros. remake of the Japanese horror film "Chakushin Ari."
His latest directorial effort, "Purple Violets," premiered this week at the Tribeca Film Festival. Burns, who wrote that script, stars with Patrick Wilson, Debra Messing and Selma Blair.
