American Girl Place retailers in Los Angeles, Chicago and Gotham will host the open calls starting next week.
The American Girl book series, along with videos, dolls, retail stores, and cafes, aim to educate young women about historical periods from the American Revolution to the Civil War, from the Great Depression to the 1950s.
The screenplay for "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery" is penned by Ann Peacock, who also adapted C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" for the screen. HBO Films and Goldsmith-Thomas Productions, in association with Red Om Films and American Girl are producing. Picturehouse is set to release the film in July 2008.
