Scott will write the screenplay. Novel is a contemporary fantasy dealing with ancient demons unleashed by global warming.
Deal is the latest in a string of material purchases that the Kopelsons have made since they aligned with the Equus Media Development Fund. The arrangement allows them to buy projects they like, without getting an OK by a studio. When Scott's manager came with the 15-page book treatment, they made a preemptive deal and will seek a studio once they have a screenplay.
Scott's novel "The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" was optioned by New Line in November.
