'Helmut by June' helmer June Newton gets a kiss from exec producer Brett Ratner.

 

Brett Ratner and a few of his lady friends were at HBO's New York headquarters on Thursday night to celebrate the net's release of doc "Helmut by June."

Ratner exec produced the project about the late Helmut Newton's life, which the photographer's wife June Newton helmed.

"When I got a call saying that (L.A. based) Brett Ratner wanted to make a documentary, I thought 'Oh no. It's not going to be right for HBO,' " net's doc topper Sheila Nevins admitted prior to the screening. "It's going to be too glam for us but it turns out Brett is a real, genuine person, which I didn't know happened out there," she said. "So thanks Brett. We thought we were in trouble."
