Kirkpatrick heads to 'NowhereLand'

Murphy comedy lands a director, start date

Paramount has tapped Karey Kirkpatrick ("Over the Hedge") to direct Eddie Murphy comedy "NowhereLand" and plans to begin shooting Sept. 10.

Murphy came on board earlier this year for the project, scripted by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson. Lorenzo di Bonaventura's producing with Solomon.

Murphy portrays a successful financial exec who finds his career going down the drain and discovers the answers to his problems within his daughter's imaginary world. Solomon drew the idea from his own life when his young son came up with a suggestion that solved a business problem. Kirkpatrick co-directed "Over the Hedge" with Tim Johnson and co-wrote the screenplay. He was a producer on "Madagascar" and his scripting credits include "Charlotte's Web," "Chicken Run" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

Murphy's shooting "Starship Dave" for Fox.
