Dzonot Corp. will develop and produce theatrical pics in a variety of genres using Nikkatsu's large library of contents as a prime source of material. It also will make use of Nikkatsu's studio facilities and production resources, as well as IMJE's pic planning and producing expertise and its talent pool of actors and helmers.
IMJE will own 51% and Nikkatsu 49% of Dzonot shares. The company is skedded to officially launch in mid-May.
Founded in 2004 as a member of the IMJ group, IMJ Entertainment is a talent shop and pic and game producer. Credits include "Nana," "Tokyo Friends" and "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish."
A member of the Index group, Nikkatsu is Japan's oldest studio, active in pic production, distribution and sales.
