Valenti out of hospital

Former MPAA chief recovering from a stroke

Jack Valenti has checked out of a hospital, weeks after being treated for a stroke, a hospital official said Wednesday.

Valenti, 85, who had been at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center since March, checked out Tuesday, Hopkins spokesman Eric Vohr said.

No further information was being released, he said, and Valenti's condition was unknown.

A telephone call by the Associated Press to Susan Fleishman, a spokeswoman for Valenti, wasn't immediately returned Wednesday morning.

Valenti is the former president of the Motion Picture Assn. of America, where he devised the ratings system for films. He also served as an adviser to President Lyndon Johnson.
