Weisman joins the Peacock's primetime pregame studio show effective immediately. The first show is Sept. 9.
Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Universal Sports & Olympics, announced Monday that Weisman has been named executive in charge of production.
"Michael has two great characteristics," Ebersol said Monday. "He has the best live instinct out of anyone I know and he knows how to have fun."
Fun is fun, but the show struggled in its first year to find the right format and feel.
For the 2007 season, net dropped Sterling Sharpe and added Keith Olbermann and Tiki Barber to the lineup, which includes Bob Costas, Cris Collinsworth, Jerome Bettis and Peter King.
Weisman, winner of 22 Emmy awards, was most recently exec producer, NBC Universal Television Group.
He produced such high-profile sporting events as the Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl, Wimbledon and the NCAA basketball championships.
