Company behind "Deal or No Deal" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" has hired A. Ron Milkes to serve as senior VP of acquisitions. Job gives Milkes -- former general council for the Firm -- the mission of identifying takeover targets for Endemol USA, which is looking to grow its business by snapping up other U.S.-based reality shingles.
Endemol USA prexy David Goldberg said the company is likely to buy "at least" one producer before year's end.
"We've had exponential growth, but you reach a point in time where the steps we've taken are no longer possible without adding things to our portfolio," Goldberg told Daily Variety.
Exec added that, save for smaller acquisitions such as True Entertainment and Joe Cartoon, the bulk of Endemol USA's revenue growth has come organically, i.e., by creating hit formats.
Endemol and Milkes hooked up via a headhunter, who identified the exec after a nationwide search. Goldberg said Milkes' "legal and financial background coupled with good instincts and taste make him an ideal executive to manage this part of our business."
In addition to the Firm, Milkes' resume includes a stint as exec VP of operations and general council for Control Room/Network Live.
Endemol USA's parent company, the Telefonica S.A.-controlled Endemol Holdings, is itself currently up for sale.
Other Endemol USA productions include "Big Brother" (with Allison Grodner Prods.) and "1 vs. 100."
