WB sticks with Stephens

Studio signs 'OC' producer to six-figure deal

Warner Bros. TV is staying in business with John Stephens, inking a six-figure, two-script deal with the scribe, who most recently served as co-exec producer of "The OC."

He also directed an episode in the series' final season.

Stephens has spent the bulk of his professional career at Warners.

His first major TV gig came in 2000, when he joined the studio's "Gilmore Girls" as a staff writer. He rose to co-producer status, leaving the show in 2004.

Stephens then segued to "The OC." He spent three seasons on the Josh Schwartz-created sudser, joining as a producer.

On the feature front, the scribe penned the romantic comedy "Soulmates" and is attached to direct. Project is being developed by producer Cary Brokaw ("Angels in America").

Deal was brokered by WMA.
