Hoffman started in the publicity department of Universal Pictures in New York. He then segued to Paramount, where he headed field publicity and promotion campaigns.
Before moving to California, he was with Columbia's New York publicity department, and later the marketing department at the studio's Burbank headquarters. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he also worked for Morgan Creek, Disney, New Line and 20th Century Fox.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry, a son and two sisters.
