As part of Canada's celebration of Hong Kong's 10th anni rejoining China, the first University of Toronto Film Festival "Hong Kong Films: 10 Years After" was launched Monday.

Running May 4-6, the festival will open with Pang Ho-cheung's "Isabella," which won original film score at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Silver Bear for film music.

On the fest slate is Toe Yuen's "My Life as McDull," short film "Jaime Lo, Small and Shy," Applause Pictures' three-part horror pic "Dumplings" and Derek Yee's "Lost in Time" and "One Night in Mongkok."

Fest also will include panels that span animation and comics -- Wendy Wong from York U. and Chris Landreth, an Academy Award-winning animator, will speak -- to horror with York U.'s Suzie Young and Bart Testa, professor of cinema studies at the U. of Toronto.

Hong Kong film experts Poshek Fu, from the U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Leung Ping-kwan from Lingnan U. in Hong Kong will deliver the keynotes.

Fest is co-presented by the Asian Institute at the U. of Toronto, the Toronto Reel Asian Intl. Film Festival and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
