Rogue, Creaseys are 'B.F.F.'

'Studio' writers sell romantic-comedy spec

Rogue Pictures is getting chummy with "B.F.F.," making a preemptive purchase of the romantic-comedy spec by husband-wife team Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey and setting it up with Beau Bauman and Jesse Israel.

"B.F.F." will be produced under Bauman's Tower of Babble Entertainment banner.

"B.F.F." -- slang for "best friends forever" -- centers on a nerdy guy and a popular girl who meet as freshmen and, over four years of high school, four proms and one funeral, become friends and eventually fall in love. The Creaseys told Daily Variety that the project's in a similar vein to John Hughes' teen comedies, with equal time given to the male and female points of view.

The duo met in the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC and collaborated on the award-winning short comedy "Great Lengths." As their thesis project, Chad wrote and Dara co-produced "Sydney White," starring Amanda Bynes and slated for a release this year from Morgan Creek via Universal.

The Creaseys are currently staff writers on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."

"B.F.F." was brought into Rogue by fellow Stark grads Bauman and Israel. Bauman recently set up comedies "American Storage" at Paramount Vantage and Seth Gordon's "The King of Kong" at New Line with ContraFilm.
