'Clubhouse' goes global
|
Disney's "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" has been licensed on free TV to more than 80 territories outside of the U.S., including seven broadcasters in the Asia Pacific region.
Licensees of the preschool series include GMTV in the U.K., Seven Network Australia, TVNZ New Zealand, TF1 France, Super RTL Germany, RAI in Italy, TVE Spain, Channel One Russia, RTE Ireland, Fiji TV, Kids Central Singapore, TVB Pearl Hong Kong, TV3 Malaysia and KBS Korea.
In other news, Five has renewed its U.K. terrestrial TV licensing deal for drama series "Grey's Anatomy."
Five recently signed a deal with Disney for the VOD rights to "Grey's Anatomy" in the U.K. Last year, Five became the first British broadcaster to launch a VOD service, called Five Download.
Vanessa Brookman, Five's controller of acquisitions, and Catherine Powell, BVITV's VP, sales, negotiated the licensing deal.
Finally, the company's Asia Pacific distribution arm (BVITV-AP) has inked a multi-year video-on-demand movie agreement with ViDeOnline Communications in Hong Kong, a leading third-party provider of VOD content over broadband, mobile and IPTV. This is the Mouse House's first VOD agreement in Hong Kong.
This agreement will make available a range of current and library features from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone and Miramax for rent on-demand via ViDeOnline's O8Media Internet platform, which launches this month in Hong Kong.
No financial details of the deals were made available.
