Massey, executive VP, A&R, Sony Music Label Group U.S. since 2004, will oversee the entire range of the label's operations. He will be based in New York and will report directly to Antonio 'L.A.' Reid, chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group. On operational matters, Massey will report to Steve Bartels, president, Island Records.
Massey has also run Daylight Records, an A&R resource for all of the labels within the Sony Music Label Group. since 2000.
While in the Sony family, he signed and developed Anastacia, Good Charlotte, Phantom Planet, Cheyenne Kimball and Cyndi Lauper.
Massey spent 10 years at Epic Records, starting as VP of A&R in 1991, continuing as executive vice president/general manager from 1997 to 1999, and then executive VP A&R until 2001.
