'Spider-Man 3' set for Queens premiere

The event, slated for Queens because it is Peter Parker's hometown, is set for April 30, four days before the pic's May 4 global bow. It is part of both the Tribeca Film Festival and "Spider-Man Week in NYC," a co-venture by the city and Columbia Pictures. The film's global debut is set for April 16 in Japan.
Spidey's New York week will feature events in all five boroughs. The list includes spider-themed attractions at the Central Park and Bronx Zoos, the American Museum of Natural History, original Spider-Man comic books displayed at the New York Public Library, and perfs of spider-themed raps at the Apollo Theater.
"Movies like 'Spider-Man 3' generate a lot of interest and excitement in the city, and events like Spider-Man Week are a great way to give all New Yorkers and visitors a chance to join in the festivities," Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said.
Jeff Blake, Vice Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment added that the week's events "celebrate so much of what this city has to offer."
