Sunday was a ho-hum night all around in primetime with the lack of a fresh "Desperate Housewives" installment putting a damper on ABC's numbers while NBC's "The Apprentice" hit a new low at 10 p.m.

ABC still won the night overall in the adults 18-49 demo with an average 3.3 rating/9 share in the key demo, based on preliminary nationals for Sunday from Nielsen Media Research. CBS prevailed in the total viewers column thanks to a solid turnout for drama "Cold Case" at 10 p.m. following a two-hour edition of "The Amazing Race."

The 10 p.m. "Housewives" clip-show recap episode (3.5/9 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) and "Cold Case" (3.5/9 in 18-49, 13.1 million viewers overall) tied for bragging rights for the night's top adults 18-49 score. "Cold Case" also prevailed as the night's most-watched program.

ABC's "Brothers and Sisters" (3.3/9 in 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall) felt the loss of the usually buoyant "Housewives" lead-in. NBC's "Apprentice" (2.2/6 in 18-49, 6 million viewers overall) fell to its lowest mark for an original episode, not that it got much help at 9 p.m. from a repeat of "Deal or No Deal" (2.8/7 in 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall).

Fox was pretty much on the sidelines for the night with repeats, with the highlight being the 9 p.m. encore of "Family Guy" (3.4/9 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall).
