Alley Theater to offer 'Paris'

Season to include Gershwin musical

The 2007-08 season at the Alley Theater in Houston includes the world preem of “The Gershwins’ An American in Paris,” a new tuner based on Gershwin songs strung together by a book written by Ken Ludwig, the book writer behind another Gershwin catalog musical, the 1992 Tony winner “Crazy for You.”

Show, which incorporates such Gershwin tunes as “S’Wonderful,” is a behind-the-scenes comedy about the making of a 1950s movie musical. Production is aimed for a bow in late spring 2008.

Alley slate also includes productions of “Doubt,” “The Lieutenant of Inishmore,” “Love, Janis” and “Underneath the Lintel.”
