'Mr. Bones' sequel is on Horizon

Production house greenlights follow-up to comedy

MUMBAI -- South African production house Distant Horizon has greenlit a sequel to hit comedy "Mr. Bones."

Sequel, about the White African witch doctor's trip to India, will be partly shot on the subcontinent and will be co-produced with an Indian shingle.

"Mr. Bones" was "very popular with Indian audiences, both in theaters and on TV, and it was dubbed into Hindi and other local languages," said Distant Horizon principal Anant Singh.

Created by and starring Leon Schuster and helmed by Gray Hofmeyr, "Bones" grossed 33 million rand ($4.6 million) from South African theaters on release in 2001.

Singh said possible co-production partners included India's Adlabs, Kaleidoscope Entertainment and UTV.
