High Grade a major leap over current service
The service, called High Grade (160Mbps) is a major leap over the current top-of-the-line 10 M bit service J:Com provides in the area.
The providers will be five local J:Com Group companies -- Cable West Osaka Central, Cable Television Kobe, Cablenet Kobe Ashiya, Hokusetsu Cable Net and J:Com Kansai.
Latter will launch in April followed by the other four in September.
J:Com plans to extend the service to Tokyo, Kyushu and Hokkaido. The company will also revamp its channel line-up in 2008 to take advantage of the faster connection speed.
J:Com had 2.63 million subs at the end of February, up 22.3% over the previous year. It has 1.16 million high-speed Internet subs, up 21.7% on the previous year.
