After a failed partnership with Cherry Lane Music in 2004 to create a joint venture that would sign and promote acts, EA is forming a similar joint venture with Nettwerk One Music.
New company, called Artwerk, will sign new and established artists and utilize Nettwerk's management, publishing and digital delivery capabilities, along with the marketing power afforded by putting songs within EA games.
Electronic music producer and artist Junkie XL, who has had tracks on EA's "Madden NFL '07" and "Need for Speed: Carbon" is the first artist to sign with Artwerk.
EA previously worked with Nettwerk to create a digital distribution label for songs used in the publisher's games that it owns.
