"The award honors many pioneers of the industry," said Gino Yu, chairman of the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Assn.
Tony Wong, chief creative director for Hong Kong's Jade Dynasty Group, won for digital crossover. Wong is responsible for adding the word "animation" to the name of the Hong Kong Comics and Animation Federation.
For digital entertainment software, the nod went to Sze Yan Ngai, founder of the China Game Publishers Assn. (Hong Kong).
DreamWorks' Raman Hui, whose credits include "Shrek," drew the award for digital animation. Hui wasn't able to attend.
The digital effects nod went to Percy Fung, who promotes high-end 3D animation production, as well as digital filmmaking and high definition.
Henry Ma, associate director of the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic U., picked up the digital entertainment education award.
