Kinostar picks up 2 from Boll

Distrib will release 'Postal,' 'Seed'

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- German distrib Kinostar has picked up domestic rights to two pics from helmer Uwe Boll, comedy "Postal" and horror pic "Seed."

Based on the PC game franchise by Arizona-based game developer Running With Scissors, "Postal" stars Zack Ward, Chris Coppola, J.K. Simmons, Michael Pare and Ralf Moeller in a political satire that promises to explain why Osama bin Laden turned out the way he did.

More in line with Boll's recent outings, "Seed" is a tale of revenge that also stars Pare and Moeller along with Will Sanderson, Jodelle Ferland and Michael Eklund.

Story follows a mass murderer who, after surviving his execution in the electric chair, crawls out of his grave and seeks revenge against those who tried to kill him.

Kinostar will release "Postal" on Sept. 27 and "Seed" on Nov. 22.

Boll, who has specialized in videogame-based fare such as "BloodRayne" and "Alone in the Dark," has long suffered critical lashings for his work; last year he unleashed his own wrath on critics after challenging four to go mana-a-mano in the boxing ring for a publicity stunt in Vancouver.
