IFC snaps up 'Fears,' 'Paris'

Films to premiere simultaneously in theaters, cable

IFC Entertainment has picked up U.S. distribution rights to French-language dramas "Private Fears in Public Places" ("Coeurs") and "Dans Paris."

IFC is eyeing an April 13 release date for "Private Fears" and late summer for "Dans Paris."

Both pics will premiere simultaneously in theaters and on cable video-on-demand under the company's First Take day-and-date banner.

Alain Resnais' "Private Fears in Public Places," voted best Gallic film of 2006 by the French Union of Film Critics last month, is a comedy about six characters longing for love in wintry Paris.

The adaptation of Alan Ayckbourn's play stars Laura Morante, Lambert Wilson, Pierre Arditi, Isabelle Carre, Andre Dussollier and Sabine Azema.

Writer-director Christophe Honore's "Dans Paris," which preemed at last year's Cannes Film Festival, stars Romain Duris as a lovelorn young man and Louis Garrel as his brother.
