Golden Brooks ("Girlfriends"), Darrin Dewitt Henson ("Stomp the Yard"), Hill Harper ("CSI: NY"), R&B singer Deborah Cox and Melissa De Sousa ("One on One") lead the cast in the adaptation of the 1990s gospel stage play. Codeblack prexy-CEO Jeff Clanagan is producing along with Holly Davis-Carter.
Pic is lensing in Baton Rouge, La., for theatrical release in January. Leslie Small ("Hair Show") is directing his own adaptation of the play by the Rev. David Payton.
"This material is a bulls-eye for the faith-based African-American market, and it comes with the bonus of having a built-in audience after its tremendous success as a stage play," Clanagan said.
Story concerns three women who each undergo romantic and spiritual crises. Stage play logged more than 1,500 performances from 1991-96.
FoxFaith plans to release annually up to a dozen pics that target auds in the growing Christian marketplace.
