New Line picks 'Path'

Jones to write 'Black' script

New Line Cinema has acquired pitch "The Black Path," with newcomer Henry Jones to pen the script.

Story concerns a brilliant but unemployed novelist who locates a legendary lost Incan treasure while researching a magazine travel piece in Ecuador; people in his search party begin murdering one another to stake their claim to the gold.

The fictional drama is based on the true story of the Incan treasure of Atahualpa, which has never been found but is believed to be cursed.

New Line execs Mark Ordesky and Ileen Maisel brought in the project.
