"Guess Who" helmer Kevin Sullivan will direct the pic, scheduled to go into production later this year.
GreeneStreet's John Penotti, Fisher Stevens and Tim Williams are producing, with Diane Batson-Smith exec producing.
Tyro scribe Patrick Aison is penning the screenplay. Casting announcements are expected shortly.
GreeneStreet Intl. will rep the film overseas.
Story centers on the deaf grappler who grows up in a tough Bronx neighborhood to take a shot at a college wrestling career and the Olympics.
GreeneStreet production topper Williams described the project as "a highly unique journey of an underdog rising above his own inhibitions and fears."
Sullivan is a veteran director who has directed "Barbershop 2" and "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."
GSF, which has been beefing up its Hollywood presence with Williams' relocation to the West Coast in the fall, has a number of high-profile projects in the pipeline. Among them are the Danny Leiner-helmed "Gary the Tennis Coach" and Russell Crowe starrer "Tenderness," which Lionsgate will release.
