Company honcho Jon Feltheimer touted past successes such as "Crash" and the studio's Tyler Perry movies while officially announcing that this lunch was the largest for a studio presentation in three years at the confab.
But everyone was there for the movies: Russell Crowe-Christian Bale oater "3:10 to Yuma," swim team drama "Pride," lighthearted "Delta Farce," actioner "The Condemned," intense horror thriller "Bug" and the insanely gory "Hostel 2" were tubthumped on five gigantic screens. So were Jet Li actioner "War" and Dane Cook comedy "Good Luck Chuck."
"Saw 4," "Bratz," "The Eye," "Tenderness," "The Return" and "Atlas Shrugged" were not ready to show.
Presenting for Lionsgate were "Bug" helmer William Friedkin, "Hostel" director Eli Roth, "Delta Farce" star Larry the Cable Guy, "War" hero Jason Statham, "Condemned" star Steve Austin and the married "Yuma" team of producer Kathy Conrad and director James Mangold.
Cook was honored with the nod for ShoWest breakout performer of the year, and the Twisted Pictures duo of Mark Burg and Oren Koules were feted as producers of the year.
