Glenn Garland and Christopher Duddy's Open Sky Entertainment is producing. Producers are Rebecca Gebhard and scribe Max Eisenberg, who penned the script.
Still alive at the old age of 32 -- 100 in human years -- John Henry became one of the most successful racehorses of all times, despite his humble beginnings. Named after the folk hero of the same name, racehorse earned more than $6.5 million at the track, retiring as the richest racehorse in 1985.
Docu will chronicle the life of the animal through interviews with those who knew him, as well as with jockeys who rode him, including Chris McAnally and Laffit Pincay. Also in production at Open Sky is an untitled docu from "Wordplay" team Patrick Creadon and Christine O'Malley on the U.S. federal debt and its implications.
Creadon is directing, and he's co-writing with O'Malley. Producers are O'Malley and Open Sky's Sarah Gibson. Exec producers are Agora Financial's Addison Wiggin and One Horizon Foundation's Jon Carnes.
