Stations snap up Wilkos

NBC sells talkshow to more than 85% of U.S.

NBC Universal has sold a daily talkshow with host Steve Wilkos in more than 85% of the U.S. for a fall launch.

Wilkos is the former security chief for "The Jerry Springer Show" who filled in as host. New yakker has been sold to stations within the Tribune, Sinclair, Hearst-Argyle, Fox, Gannett and Sunbeam groups.

Richard Dominick, exec producer of "Springer" and the upcoming "The Springer Hustle" on VH1, will serve as exec producer of Wilkos' show, which has yet to be titled.

Show will be taped in front of a studio audience at WMAQ-TV Chicago, home of "The Jerry Springer Show."

A native of Chicago, Wilkos retired from the Chicago police force in 2002 to do television full-time.
