Casting -- Chris Lowell has landed a coveted role in the pilot for ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff.
Thesp currently plays Piz on the CW drama "Veronica Mars." He also starred in ABC's short-lived but well-reviewed "Life as We Know It."
Creator-exec producer Shonda Rhimes is keeping the name and description of Lowell's character secret. Mark Gordon and Betsy Beers are exec producing what ABC Television Studio is calling an "enhanced two-hour episode."
"Grey's Anatomy" spinoff stars Kate Walsh, reprising her role as Dr. Montgomery.

Casting -- James D'Arcy ("Nicholas Nickleby") has been cast in the lead role of Cain in the sci-fi themed "Them," from CBS Paramount Network TV. His other credits include "An American Haunting."
Casting -- Stevie Howey ("Reba") has been added to the cast of "The Beast," from CBS Par Network TV and FremantleMedia North America, lifting the pilot's cast contingency.

Casting -- Eric Winter ("Wildfire") will play Det. Peter Carlyle on "Viva Laughlin," the Hugh Jackman-produced musical mystery from Sony Pictures TV and CBS Paramount Network TV.
ABC
Casting -- Tim Peper ("Law & Order") will play Dougie in the ABC TV Studio/DreamWorks comedy "Carpoolers."

Chace Crawford ("The Covenant") has joined "Gossip Girl." He'll play Nate, one of the rich teens on the Warner Bros. TV-produced show and the boyfriend of Blair (Leighton Meester). Crawford's next feature is "Loaded."
Casting -- Rick Gonzalez ("Coach Carter") has joined "Reaper," from ABC Television Studio.
