Sex column excites Paramount

Studio buys rights to Stoddard's memoir

'Working Stiff'

Paramount Vantage has picked up the film rights to Brit-born sex columnist Grant Stoddard's memoir "Working Stiff."

Scribes Emily Cook and Kathy Greenberg ("Ratatouille") are attached to adapt Stoddard's tome, published in January by Harper Perennial.

Book chronicles Stoddard's journey from London school dropout to sex columnist for Nerve.com in Gotham. He came to the U.S. in pursuit of true love, only to find himself recounting his exotic and hilarious sexual (mis)adventures in his weekly column "I Did It for Science."

Ross Martin, head of programming for sister division mtvU, brought the project to Vantage head of production and acquisitions Amy Israel and will exec produce.

Vantage's upcoming release sked includes Mike White comedy "Year of the Dog," Angelina Jolie starrer "A Mighty Heart" and Sundance acquisition "Son of Rambow."
