Toplined by Quim Gutierrez, "Dark" is about a young janitor trapped by family responsibilities who wants to rise above his current drudgery.
"Dark" won the Europa Cinemas Label for European Film at last year's Venice Film Festival, as well as Spanish Academy Goya Awards for first film, supporting actor (Antonio de la Torre) and breakthrough performance (Gutierrez).
In a second sale, also finalized at the Berlin Film Festival, Here! Films has taken all U.S rights to musical comedy "The 2 Sides of the Bed," directed by Emilio Martinez Lazaro.
"The 2 Sides" was the second-highest grossing film of 2005 in Spain, notching up 1.5 million admissions.
Theatrical distribution of "The 2 Sides" will be handled in the U.S. by Regent Releasing, sister company to Here! Films. Both pics will bow in the U.S. late 2007.
Canadian rights for "Dark" and "The 2 Sides" have been picked up by Mongrel Media.
