FX has engineered a significant dial-position upgrade on Time Warner Cable of New York City, moving from channel 54 to channel 37, which puts it in the company of Spike (channel 36), Bravo (38) and USA (40).
As part of the deal, said Lindsay Gardner, executive VP of affiliate sales & marketing for Fox Cable, Time Warner has agreed to carry for the first time the Fox Reality Channel, not only in New York, but in TW cable systems throughout the country. TW in New York will place Fox Reality on channel 158, which will make it available to more than 600,000 subscribers.
The TW upgrade for FX follows the network's successful leap on Cablevision's Long Island systems to channel 40, where it's now surrounded by such compatible networks as TNT (37), USA (38), TBS(39) and Spike (41).
"We did lots of research," said Gardner, "and came to the conclusion that the neighborhood where FX is located is just as important as the dial position in getting more viewers to watch it."
