She replaces Jenny Borgars, who stepped down last week after six years in the job.
Seghatchian is best known as the exec who brought J.K. Rowling's debut novel "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" to the attention of producer David Heyman at Heyday Films.
She then worked with Heyman and screenwriter Steve Kloves to develop the franchise.
She took co-producer credits on the first two Potter pics, and was an exec producer on the next three. Seghatchian's also been developing "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" for Kloves to direct at Heyday.
Separately, she set up Apocalypso Pictures with director Pawel Pawlikowski, producing his 2004 movie "My Summer of Love," which won the BAFTA for British film, and his upcoming pic "The Restraint of Beasts."
She was named as one of Variety's 10 Producers to Watch in 2005.
"Tanya has a great sense of smell for material," Pawlikowski said at the time. "She's carried by enthusiasm, not by love of money."
