ABC Family spawns series

Network goes to new 'Heights'

'Lincoln Heights'

ABC Family has given 'Lincoln Heights' a second season.

ABC Family has renewed "Lincoln Heights" for a second season, and given a series go-ahead to "Greek," reinforcing the network's standing as one of the most active schedulers of scripted original series in ad-supported cable.

"Lincoln Heights," with a 10-episode commitment, and "Greek," which picks up a nine-hour order, join "Wildfire," now in production on a fourth season of 13 hours, and "Kyle XY," going into its second season. All of this activity raises ABC Family to the level of USA, FX and the Sci Fi Channel in commissioning multiple firstrun scripted series.

"Lincoln Heights" focuses on a cop who, with his wife and three children, buys a house in the poor urban neighborhood where he was raised. It didn't draw big numbers overall but it indexed well with femmes 12-34 when it premiered two months ago.

"Greek" deals with a young man who was a grind in high school and decides to dump the books and have fun when he enrolls in college. "Greek" premieres on ABC Family in the summer along with the second cycle of "Kyle XY."
