Dorff heads to 'Passage'

Actor toplining Moroccan thriller

Stephen Dorff is toplining Moroccan thriller "The Passage" for Lynette Howell and Doug Dey's indie production company Silverwood Films ("Half Nelson").

British theater director Mark Heller helmed the pic -- now in post -- from a screenplay by Brit thesp Neil Jackson. Film lensed on location in Morocco.

Jackson also stars in the film, along with Israeli actress-model Sarai Givati and Moroccan TV star Khalid Benchegra.

Story revolves around an American man who falls in love with a Moroccan woman. The couple quickly discover that their forbidden romance could cost them their lives.

Producing with Howell and Dey is Jeremy Kipp Walker of Journeyman Pictures, which co-produced "Half Nelson." Silverwood is financing "Passage," which cost under $5 million.

Silverwood's "Half Nelson" is up for an Oscar this weekend for actor Ryan Gosling.

Its upcoming slate includes "Villain," which it is producing with 2929 Prods., and the musical stage adaptation of "The First Wives Club," set to open next year on Broadway.
