Space station-set story, penned by Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger, centers on a love triangle. The writing team, who developed the script with Arnett, began working on the script months before the recent arrest of astronaut Lisa Nowak on charges that she tried to murder a woman she believed was her rival for a Space Shuttle pilot.
Robbie Brenner and John Davis will exec produce "Space Invader."
Deal closed Tuesday for mid-six figures after ICM received several bids.
Project is the first purchased by Fox Atomic since Debbie Liebling moved into the production prexy post last month, and it's the second on which Arnett is slated to star and produce with Principato Young after setting up "The Ambassador" at DreamWorks.
On the bigscreen Arnett's starring in the upcoming "Blades of Glory" and next year's "Semi-Pro," both opposite Will Ferrell, as well as "Brothers Solomon" opposite Will Forte this summer.
Lisbe and Reger also sold "The Wrong Nine Year Old" and wrote "Little Orphan Anthony" for New Line. In TV, they developed pilots for Sony/Fox Broadcasting and Sony/ABC, and they've worked on staff on "A Minute With Stan Hooper," "Just Shoot Me" and their own show "Random Years."
